Bryan Jones ran for 117 yards with two scores and linebacker Fenuki Foketi also had a tremendous performance as the host Chabot College football team held off a furious rally by San Jose City to win 38-28 in Saturday's nonconference finale for both squads.

Foketi had three sacks and an interception as the Gladiators sacked Jaguars quarterbacks seven times and forced four turnovers on the night.

Jones scored on touchdown runs of 11 and 46 yards to help Chabot (4-1) take a 35-7 lead late in the first half before San Jose City (0-5) tried to mount a comeback.

Kyle Cool threw three touchdown passes, including a 19-yard strike to Jamaal Fleming that pulled the Jaguars within 10 with 7:44 remaining. The Chabot defense then buckled down, forcing a turnover on downs and getting an interception by Foketi to seal the win.

Chabot quarterback Travis Gardner had 214 yards in the air and three touchdowns on 20 of 28 passing. Joe Castro had a 31-yard touchdown reception from Gardner and finished with six catches for 72 yards.

Sacramento City 52, Diablo Valley 47: The visiting Vikings suffered their first loss of the season in this offensive explosion.

Diablo Valley (4-1) took a 14-3 lead in the first quarter on a 3-yard interception return by Eric Fine Sauki and an 86-yard kickoff return by Chris Mamon. The Vikings held a 27-17 halftime lead over Sacramento City (3-2). The Vikings' Greg Wilson returned a punt for a touchdown in the last two minutes of the game, but a penalty negated the score.

Contra Costa 36, Gavilan 6: While not a dominating performance by any means, the Comets played well enough to defeat the winless Rams at home.

Contra Costa (2-3) benefited from several Gavilan miscues, as the Rams fumbled the ball three times and quarterbacks Cameron Hernandez and John Criswell each threw one interception.

The Rams (0-5) started with a fumble on the opening kickoff, which eventually set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Comets quarterback Jeffery Anderson.

Special teams was also key for the Comets. Defensive back Devin Brown blocked a Gavilan punt, setting up the team's second touchdown of the game. Jordan Morrow returned a punt 41 yards for a touchdown on an electrifying run which featured Lovett avoiding a sure loss and reversing direction to get into the end zone.

San Mateo 45, Los Medanos 0: The Bulldogs committed 15 penalties for 129 yards, had three touchdowns called back and fumbled seven times but still dominated the visiting Mustangs.

San Mateo (5-0), the defending Northern California champion, outgained Los Medanos 596-152 even though long-distance touchdown runs from Tim Celestine and Tana Afeaki were both erased because of holding penalties.

The Bulldogs' no-huddle attack made life miserable for the Mustangs defense, as 13 San Mateo players carried the ball to generate 349 yards rushing.

Los Medanos (2-3) managed only 62 passing yards, 90 rushing yards and was one for 13 on third down. The Mustangs' only scoring threat came midway into the third quarter when kicker Eugene Ferrel's 42-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Ron Fields.
