Linebacker Eddie Jones tackled Damien Berry at the 1-yard line on fourth down with 55 seconds to go, helping Team Texas hold on for a 13-7 victory over Team Nation in the NFLPA All-Star game on Saturday.

The game featured players eligible for the NFL draft in April.

Jones, who played college ball at Texas, ran in from the left side of the line to stop Berry, the Miami running back who scored on a 72-yard run earlier in the game.

''Their offense was easy to read, and I could tell when they were running or passing,'' Jones said. ''Before third down they hadn't run to my side, and I told my teammates that if they do I would make a big play. It happened to be on fourth down.''

Texas Tech quarterback Taylor Potts guided scoring drives the first two times he appeared on the field, and that was enough for Team Texas. The offensive player of the game completed 9 of 15 passes for 107 yards.

After bobbling a deep snap, Potts threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Tennessee's Denarius Moore 2 1/2 minutes into the game. Oregon's Spencer Paysinger recovered Team Nation's fumble on the kickoff, but Potts was sacked and Arizona State's Thomas Weber kicked a 37-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead.

Team Nation scored on the next play from scrimmage when Berry scampered 72 yards for the touchdown.

Weber also kicked a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Besides the late drive that came up short, Team Nation also failed to score on a promising possession with 8 1/2 minutes left. North Carolina's T.J. Yates was sacked and fumbled near the 15-yard line, and Roberto Davis of Northwest Missouri State fell on the ball.

Davis, the defensive player of the game, had two sacks.
