JESSIE POKU AND TILLMAN STEVENS SELECTED AS NORTH DIVISION OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE

RICHARDSON, Texas, Oct. 11 -- Eastern New Mexico University issued the following news release:
Seniors Jessie Poku (Sr., WR, Murphy, Texas/Richardson HS) and Tillman Stevens (Sr., DB, Baytown, Texas/Sterling HS) have been selected as the Lone Star Conference North Division Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their key roles in Saturday's divisional win over University of Central Oklahoma. The win improved the Greyhounds to 2-1 in LSC North play and kept them in the hunt for the division title.
The duo joins Wesley Wood (So., QB, Muleshoe, Texas/Muleshoe HS) and Matt Kalisch (Sr., DE, Harker Heights, Texas/Harker Heights HS/NMMI), both of whom were selected as LSC North Players of the Week following the Hounds' season-opening win over Southern Nazarene.
Pokuregistered the third three-touchdown performance of his career, hauling in nine receptions for 94 yards. He caught scoring passes of 35, 5 and 10 yards, with two of the three giving the Greyhounds the lead. During the game, Poku set a new ENMU career record with 24 touchdown receptions. He has scored at least one touchdown in four of Eastern's six games this season.
Stevens turned in a stellar defensive performance in Eastern's win over Central Oklahoma, with a career-high three interceptions along with 10 tackles and two passes broken up. In the fourth quarter, he sealed the game by returning an interception 62 yards for a score. For the game, Stevens registered 81 yards on interception returns. The contest marked his second consecutive multiple-interception game and fourth straight with double-digit tackles.
The Eastern New Mexico University football team will continue LSC North play, this Saturday, when they visit Ada, Okla., for a contest against East Central University.
