Cameron Starke kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired as James Madison defeated Liberty 27-24 on Saturday night. The win snapped Liberty's nine-game home winning streak.

The game was tied 17-17 after three quarters, then Dae'Quan Scott rushed for his third touchdown of the night from 2 yards out for a 24-17 James Madison lead. Scott finished with 126 yards on 29 carries.

Liberty tied the game on a 43-yard pass from Mike Brown to Chris Summers with 7:45 to play, but Starke's kick kept the Flames (1-2) from notching their 200th win in program history.

The winning drive for James Madison (2-1) covered 52 yards on eight plays and took 2:11.

Brown's passing kept the Flames in the game. He completed 24 of 29 attempts for 298 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for a 2-yard score.
