The Dukes (3-1) rushed for 271 yards while holding the Tribe (2-2) to just 37 yards on 34 carries. The discrepancy in rushing yards led to a significant advantage in time of possession with James Madison holding the ball for 35:16, compared to 24:44 by William & Mary.
Scott had 26 carries, finishing with 112 yards and a 3-yard touchdown, which came after a forced turnover in William & Mary territory. Leading 10-7, James Madison's Stephon Robertson dislodged the ball from Keith McBridge and Anthony McDaniel recovered for the Dukes on the William & Mary 24.
Michael Graham threw for two touchdowns and 215 yards on 14 of 26 passing for the Tribe.
