Jacksonville State overwhelms E Kentucky 68-10

Eli Jenkins rushed for 120 yards on just 7 carries, scoring 3 touchdowns as Jacksonville Sate overwhelmed Eastern Kentucky 68-10 Saturday.

Max Shortell threw for 190 yards and one touchdown for Jacksonville State (8-2, 4-2 Ohio Valley Conference). DaMarcus James had two touchdowns on 88 yards rushing.

The Gamecocks were slow starting, leading just 16-3 at the end of the first quarter. Eli Jenkins got the offense rolling when he broke for a 71-yard touchdown sprint early in the second quarter. The defense put points on the board too when Michael Carlisle sacked Jared McClain, causing a fumble that Ketrick Wolfe recovered in the end zone for Jacksonville State. Eastern Kentucky (6-4, 4-2) was held to 213 total yards.

The Gamecocks, who totaled 503 yards of total offense, were ahead 40-3 at the half.

The 68 points was the most ever scored by Jacksonville State against a conference opponent.
