SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) Matt Adam threw touchdown passes to four different receivers and Indiana State topped Missouri State 56-28 in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Adam was 27 of 38 for 265 yards and connected for three second-half scores that allowed the Sycamores (3-1, 1-0) to pull away. Early in the fourth, wide receiver Gary Owens took a screen from Adam, then lobbed it into the end zone where Jamar Brown outjumped the defense for a 22-yard touchdown reception.

Calan Crowder's second touchdown of the day, a 2-yard run at the start of the second, put the Bears up 14-7, but Indiana State used two long drives for touchdowns- capped by Roland Genesy's 19-yard run and Adam's 6-yard pass to Owens - and led 21-14 at the half.

Missouri State fell to 1-3. Deion Holliman returned a punt 58 yards for a Bears touchdown.
