Robinson fined $50,000
Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson was fined $50,000 by the NFL on Tuesday for his hit on Philadelphia receiver DeSean Jackson.
Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations, said players who make "egregious and elevated hits" in the future will face a suspension.

Falcons coach Mike Smith did not see the play as a helmet-to-helmet hit. Robinson appeared to hit Jackson's shoulder area before there was helmet contact.
Both players suffered concussions and did not return to the game. D. ORLANDO LEDBETTER
No jail time for Cormier
Thrashers prospect Patrice Cormier pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing injury and received an unconditional discharge.
The charge, filed by the prosecutor of Rouyn-Norand, Quebec, stemmed from an on-ice hit during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game last season. The unconditional discharge means that while convicted on the crime, the court did not believe it to be right to give a punishment. Cormier will not receive jail time, a fine, community service or probation. The 20-year-old faced up to 18 months in prison.
Cormier delivered an elbow to an opposing player, Mikael Tam, who was hospitalized after the hit.
Cormier is on injured reserve after breaking his foot on the eve of training camp.
