How to Properly Analyze Indiana's Offense Against FIU

Indiana ran out of Miami with a somewhat weak 21 point victory. Indiana’s offense in specific, was stagnant for the majority of three-quarters and did nothing exciting. This, should excite you.

I don’t know how many times it has to be mentioned, but it’s hard to avoid the fact that this Indiana Football program is light-years beyond where it once was. With that said, there are new expectations with this program that can sometimes alter the positives of a game such as this one.

Kevin Wilson and the Indiana Hoosiers beat the FIU Panthers last night without doing anything spectacular.

    THAT, IS A GOOD THING.

IU is now at a level in its program’s development where games against FIU should never be a worry.  Kevin Wilson can now handle games such as these just as many other coaches around the country handle their weak non-conference opponents.

Kevin Wilson doesn’t have to show any of the cards up his sleeve. He doesn’t have to throw in any tricks or “pizzaz.”  Indiana can win football games by just running it straight at you and throwing occasional curl routes.

There is a reason Kevin Wilson was able to confidently suspend multiple starters before this game and still come out victorious.

Games like these should just become a glorified practice for this program, and yesterday was exactly that.

Indiana has some of the most explosive skill players in the Big Ten, and one of the most creative offensive minds in the country. It’s just going to take a few weeks to see that in action.

If you’re a Hoosier fan, be excited that Kevin Wilson can hold back on the elaborate play calling until big opponents such as Michigan State come rolling around.

To think that Indiana won’t be scoring 40 points a game once again is absurd, knowing that Indiana has at least six running backs that expect to get carries, three starting wide receivers returning from last year, and one of the best offensive lines in the country.

So, the greatest takeaway from this FIU game about Indiana’s offense, is the fact that there is nothing to takeaway.

Except for the fact that Indiana has a quarterback the doesn’t turnover the ball. That’s nice for now.
