How mighty have fallen: From Heisman finalist to pregame show?

Remember Jordan Lynch?

A year ago, Lynch was breaking national records as Northern Illinois' quarterback and seven weeks away from being named a Heisman Trophy finalist.

On Saturday, Lynch was out of football and scheduled to be signing autographs at a pub and grille in NIU's hometown of DeKalb, Ill., before the Huskies' game with the visiting Miami RedHawks.

Last season, Lynch set NCAA records for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single game (321), most QB rushing yards in a season (1,920), most QB 100-yard rushing games in a season (12) and most QB rushing yards per game in a season (137.1).

Hard to believe this is where the Chicago native is now after an amazing college career.

But there he was on Saturday's Fatty's Pub & Grille flier:

A year ago from Sunday (Oct. 19), Lynch broke the record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single game, rushing for 316 yards and three touchdowns in Northern Illinois' 38-17 victory at Central Michigan. The win made the then-No. 23 Huskies 7-0.

Five weeks later, Lynch broke that record again, rushing for 321 yards as NIU improved to 12-0 and climbed to No. 16 in AP poll.

But the Huskies followed with a 47-27 loss to Bowling Green in the MAC Championship Game and a 21-14 setback to Utah State in the Poinsettia Bowl.

Lynch didn't get selected in May's NFL Draft, but the Chicago Bears signed him to a contract shortly afterward.

However, he was released on Aug. 29 before the season even started.

Wonder if he knows how to work the grill?
