Mack Brown is fighting to keep his job, and he got a big boost from his quarterback Thursday night.

With Texas trailing Big 12 rival Iowa State by three in the final moments of the second quarter, Brown elected to take one last shot at the end zone before halftime. Case McCoy, brother of former Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy, hurled a Hail Mary from the midfield logo, and wideout John Harris wrestled the ball away from an ISU defender for a 44-yard touchdown.

That score turned a 13-10 deficit into a 17-13 halftime lead, and the Longhorns held on for a 31-30 win.

''I'm really excited. I think I love comeback wins on the road more than anything in football,'' Brown said. ''I just think I love them. It just says something about your toughness and your team and believing. We're getting back something we lost. We couldn't have done this the last couple of years.''

McCoy started for the second time this season in place of the injured David Ash, who was out with concussion-like symptoms. He was far from perfect. But on a night when they desperately needed a victory, McCoy did just enough to help give them one.

''Adversity has already struck this team plenty of times and we keep finding ways to keep battling and staying together and sticking together,'' McCoy said.

Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads felt the Longhorns got some huge breaks from the officlals and went off about it in a postgame rant. Watch the video below.
