Horned Frogs pop up at No. 2 in early preseason top 25 poll

After punctuating a 12-1 season with a Peach Bowl blowout of Ole Miss that essentially snubbed their noses at the College Football Playoff selection committee that left them out of the party, the TCU Horned Frogs are beginning to see the national respect they've earned.
Preseason polls will be popping up soon and, in fact, one is making the Internet rounds already. The cover of the 2015 Sporting News' college football edition has leaked out and it lists the top 10 teams in its preseason top 25.
The Horned Frogs come in at No. 2, just behind defending champion Ohio State. Auburn, Oregon and Alabama round out the top five.
The Baylor Bears, who shared the 2014 Big 12 championship with TCU, comes in at No. 7, one spot ahead of Michigan State, which rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Baylor in the Cotton Bowl.
TCU returns Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Trevone Boykin, plus potent playmakers everywhere for an offense that finished second in the Big 12 behind Baylor in total offense and scoring offense.
The defense is being retooled, but most analysts apparently have a trust in head coach and defensive guru Gary Patterson to put together a solid unit.
The Frogs open the season on a Thursday night, Sept. 3 at Minnesota.
