The Iowa Hawkeyes defensive unit is a group with a lot of pride. They know the school has a long history of good defense and they had a slip last season. Coming off a spring game where they forced three turnovers, picking off two passes and recovering a fumble they are showing the have something to prove.

Players are even admitting it according to QC Times:

“You’re only as good as your last game and after the way we played in the bowl, we feel like we have a lot to prove,’ safety Jordan Lomax said, referencing the Hawkeyes’ 45-28 TaxSlayer Bowl loss to Tennessee. Our spring has been about proving that we can play Iowa defense, play strong, tough and get to the ball. I feel like we’re taking strides.’’

If the Iowa defense can return to their typical form, they can compete in a winnable Big Ten West this season.
