Georgia DL Taylor charged with aggravated assault after alleged domestic violence incident

Georgia defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor's future with the university is in jeopardy after he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault/domestic violence Tuesday morning.
Multiple reports state that Taylor was arrested by the UGA police department and booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail. The charge is a felony.
University of Georgia police chief Jimmy Williamson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the charges came from a third-party complaint over an alleged domestic dispute.
"At 2:47 a.m., our dispatcher received a third-party call about a female individual who was injured by her boyfriend," Williamson told the paper. "Police officers and EMS were dispatched. We met with the victim at Busbee Hall along with the third-party caller. After interviewing her, we determined the incident had occurred at McWhorther Hall. We made contact with the primary resident, Jonathan Maurice Taylor. After talking to Mr. Taylor, the victim and evidence at the scene, officers determined they had significant probably cause to make the charge of aggravated assault/domestic violence."
The sophomore was one of four Georgia players jailed on theft by deception charges in March. According to the AJC, he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program this month.
Multiple reports say the university's conduct codes on felony arrests and repeated team rules violations calls for immediate suspension from athletic competition for a felony arrest.
