Furman 16, The Citadel 6

Chris Forcier completed all nine of his passes, including a 4-yard touchdown, as Furman beat The Citadel 16-6 Saturday in the teams' Southern Conference opener.
With the score tied 6-6, Forcier hit Sederrick Cunningham with 25 seconds left in the first half to cap a 71-yard, 10-play drive.
Furman (1-1) threatened again early in the fourth quarter, but Forcier fumbled at the 2-yard line after a 17-yard run. The Citadel couldn't capitalize on the turnover, giving the ball back on downs after crossing midfield.
Furman's Chas Short finished the scoring with a 46-yard field goal.
The Bulldogs (1-1) then drove 64 yards to the Furman 18, but Ben Dupree's pass was intercepted by Marcus McMorris.
Forcier's accuracy didn't translate into big plays, as he threw for 56 yards. Furman running back Jerodis Williams had another big game, rushing for 122 yards after gaining 143 last week.
