Franklin picks Rodgers to start vs Army

Vanderbilt coach James Franklin says Jordan Rodgers will make his first start Saturday night against Army since he transferred from a junior college in 2010.
Larry Smith started the first six games this season and had been the Commodores' starter the past two seasons. But Franklin announced the switch Wednesday night after practice.
Franklin says Rodgers is having a good week of practice and the coaches think the junior from Chico, Calif., made some good plays in last week's 33-28 loss to Georgia. Franklin says they need to clean up some things with Rodgers' game but calls them very correctable.
Rodgers drove the Commodores (3-3) to three touchdowns in rallying against Georgia. The younger brother of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed the 2010 season with a shoulder injury.
