Former Notre Dame QB Golson visits Florida State

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he has met with Everett Golson about the possibility of the former Notre Dame quarterback transferring to the Seminoles.
Fisher told reporters Tuesday at the Atlantic Coast Conference spring meetings in Amelia Island, Florida, that Golson visited Florida State's Tallahassee campus on Monday. The coach said he would not promise playing time to Golson and that it was up to the player if he wanted to join the Seminoles.
Fisher said, ''We have to do what gives us the best chance to be successful.''
Florida State is looking for a replacement for Jameis Winston, who was the first overall pick in the NFL draft last month.
SI.com also reported that Golson was in Gainesville, Florida, on Tuesday meeting with Gators coach Jim McElwain.
