Former BYU football quarterback Steve Sarkisian was in a lot of hot water the last team he was a collegiate coach. Now he’s getting another shot.

The last time BYU football star Steve Sarkisian was a college football coach, he was a colossal disappointment.

Now he’s getting another chance.

Sark took over the head coaching duties at USC in 2014, leading the Trojans to a 9-4 record and a win in the Holiday Bowl. In 2015, Sark finished started 3-2, but didn’t finish the season.

On Oct. 11, 2015 then-USC Athletic Director Pat Haden announced Sarkisian would be taking an indefinite leave of absence.

Sarkisian had arrived to practice intoxicated. He had also given a speech at a booster’s event while intoxicated. Some reports suggest he was drinking at halftime of games and the Los Angeles Times wrote Sarkisian had been involved with a number of alcohol-related incidents at Washington.

Sark then went on to sue USC, claiming the university had fired him without helping him cure his disability.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban hired Sarkisian as an analyst for the Crimson Tide earlier this season. Sark got the promotion after Lane Kiffin left for Florida Atlantic.

The Crimson Tide will take on the Washington Huskies on Dec. 31 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Sarkisian played for BYU football from 1995-96, leading the Cougars to a 21-5 record. The 1996 BYU football team arguably had the best season in BYU history, going 14-1 and winning the Cotton Bowl.
