Florida stays hot in recruiting, lands four-star QB Jake Allen

One of the main reasons Jim McElwain was hired in Gainesville was to fix the Florida Gators atrocious offense of recent seasons, and with the help of recruiting elite prospects like four-star Jake Allen, the offense is expected to turn around sooner rather than later.
After talking it over with my family and my coaches, I have decided to commit to THE University of Florida! #Swamp17 pic.twitter.com/luF9e74xSN

Allen is rated as a four-star quarterback by 247 Sports and is the first quarterback prospect to commit to McElwain at Florida. However, Allen won't be arriving to Florida for some time, as he is a 2017 prospect and will not be a member of the Gators next recruiting class.
Scout.com caught up with Allen immediately after he made his decision to join the Gators. So what was it that stood out about the Gators?
"Just the feeling and vibe I got when I visited last time," Allen said. "It's kind of cliche, but I felt like I could live there and call it home for the next 4-5 years. It was good going to Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford and all of these schools, because it made my decision firm. I'm ready to be a Gator and excited to announce it tonight."
Allen had visited the campus once before and met with offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier while at Florida.
"I usually talk to coach Nuss and coach T-Skip, who's the running backs coach," Allen said. "They're just like family and it's a cool atmosphere up there. If you go somewhere where you're not comfortable, then what is that? I'm just comfortable there."
The Fort Lauderdale native decided to take a few more visits before making his decision.
"I was pumped, but I wanted to see other schools before I made a commitment," Allen said. "I was excited about seeing all these other schools, but I've seen them and I'm ready to go."
With their future quarterback now in place, Gator fans can rest easy knowing Allen will do whatever it takes to bring in fellow elite prospects to play in 2017.
"They can expect me to be a leader," Allen said. "I'm going to lead this class and I'm going to make sure we have one of the best classes in the country."
