Florida State's QB situation remains up in the air

Florida State will look to bounce back from its 23-13 loss to No. 1 Clemson when it hosts N.C. State on Saturday. That is certain. Who will be guiding the offense at that time still remains a mystery.

On Monday, FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher did not commit to a quarterback and said that he is ok with either Everett Golson or Sean Maguire behind center.

“I feel comfortable with Sean, I feel comfortable with Everett,” said Fisher. “We’ll wait and see how we’re going to plan it and look at what we’re going to have to do in this game to be successful going forward.”

Golson started the Seminoles (7-2, 5-2) first seven games of the year before missing the last two with concussion-like symptoms. During that time, Golson has completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 1,569 yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception.

Maguire looked sharp during the Seminoles 45-21 victory over Syracuse two weeks ago as he threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns. He was not as prolific against Clemson, as he connected on 16 of his 24 attempts for 164 yards, no TDs and one interception.

“I don’t think he played a great game, I don’t think he played a poor game. I think he played a solid game,” said Fisher. “But when you play good teams like that, that’s what you’re going to get.”

“… What I loved about him, what Sean did in that game, is there was no starry-eyedness. And when he made a mistake, he knew he made a mistake, what he should have done. The communication, what he saw, the demeanor. Even the way he ran the team, the way he called things.”
