Florida has ruled sophomore defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd ineligible.
Officials say Floyd will not be able to compete until he is reinstated by the NCAA. They say his eligibility issues are not related to sports agents, university boosters or his recruitment to the school.
Floyd chose the Gators over Ohio State, North Carolina and Southern California.
Florida officials say they will not have any additional comment on the matter until it is resolved.
Floyd, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound Philadelphia native, played in all 13 games last season and started two. He had 23 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss.
Floyd had been projected to start against Florida Atlantic on Saturday night.
