One day after not revealing his cards when it came to the quarterback position, Florida head coach Jim McElwain publicly announced Thursday that Will Grier will be the starter over Treon Harris on Saturday versus East Carolina. It will be Grier's first collegiate start.

This also comes after McElwain blasted his team (and specifically his quarterbacks) for "unacceptable behavior" the previous day.

Grier had a solid first game for the Gators, in which he finished 15-of-17 for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He also impressively rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown on only four carries.

The 164 yards passing were the most by a Gator signal-caller making his first appearance since 1988, when Kyle Morris threw for 213 yards.

Grier, a North Carolina native, has roots to the East Carolina program. His father Chad was a quarterback for the Pirates from 1989-90
