GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) Florida will have a new place-kicker against Tennessee on Saturday.
The Gators ruled out junior Austin Hardin because of a leg injury about an hour before kickoff. Hardin missed his last three field-goal attempts this season, all inside 40 yards. Hardin also has 15 touchbacks on 20 kickoffs.
Jorge Powell will replace him against the Volunteers. Powell, a redshirt freshman from Coral Gables, walked onto the team last summer. He kicked a 54-yarder in high school, but hasn't attempted a meaningful field goal in two seasons at Florida.
Hardin came out of the locker room for warmups, but didn't attempt any kicks. Powell handled all the pre-game work.
