Ex-Michigan, Alabama OC Doug Nussmeier headed to Florida

Former Alabama and Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier is the new OC at Florida, joining new coach Jim McElwain's staff, the Gators announced on Wednesday.
Multiple sources told FOX Sports on Tuesday the hire was imminent.
The former NFL QB had a rough one-year stint with a young Wolverines offense in 2014, taking over a group that ranked No. 87 in total offense in 2013 and dropped to No. 111 nationally. He'll return to the SEC to lead a unit that had all sorts of issues scoring in recent years. In 2014, UF ranked No. 91 in total offense, No. 105 in passing and No. 101 in third-down conversions.
At his previous stops, Nussmeier was much more successful, particularly in the SEC.
While under Nussmeier's guidance, 'Bama set records for offensive touchdowns scored (68), total points (542), total offense (6,237) and passing touchdowns (31) in the 2012 season -- his first with the Crimson Tide. Despite a rebuilt offensive line, Bama ranked No. 6 in the nation in 2013 in yards per play (7.15) and ranked third in the nation in that stat in games against ranked opponents (7.59).
As an NFL assistant, Nussmeier also coached QBs for the St. Louis Rams in 2006-07 and helped Marc Bulger, a former sixth-round pick, make it to a Pro Bowl.
The news of Nussmeier's hire was first reported by SI.
