Ex-Eagle inks free agent deal with Steelers

Former Boston College wide receiver Shakim Phillips inked a free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday.
The contract is the latest twist in Phillips’ football journey, placing him on a new road he hopes will stretch a long ways. The 6-1, 204-pound Phillips began his college career with Boston College, but he only stuck around for a year before transferring to UConn, where he would play for two seasons.
However, Phillips would end his college career where it began, as he returned to Boston College last year and caught 13 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns.
Ironically, Phillips will be challenged for playing time by his former quarterback, Tyler Murphy, who is looking to latch on with the Steelers as a wide receiver.
