Eastern Illinois rolls over Murray State 48-26

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) Jalen Whitlow threw for three touchdowns and Taylor Duncan ran for two more as Eastern Illinois defeated Murray State 48-26 on Saturday.

The victory set up a showdown for the Panthers (5-5, 5-1) at Ohio Valley Conference leader Jacksonville State (6-0) next week.

After the Panthers took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, the Racers (3-7, 1-5) closed to within 28-20 on Pokey Harris' school-record 100-yard kickoff return and KD Humphries' 9-yard scoring pass to Nevar Griffin. But Duncan scored his second touchdown, Whitlow threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Adam Drake and then ran 1 yard for another touchdown to secure the victory.

Whitlow finished 27 of 37 with 312 yards. Duncan rushed for 171 yards on 30 carries as the Panthers rolled up a 654-483 advantage on offense.

Humphries was 29 of 38 for 306 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
