Dunn gives ND State 50-44 win over Eastern Washington in OT

FARGO, N.D. (AP) Tre Dempsey intercepted Eastern Washington quarterback Gage Gubrud on the first possession of overtime and Lance Dunn ran 25 yards on North Dakota State's first offensive play as the Bison defeated the Eagles 50-44 on Saturday.

North Dakota State forced overtime by going 71 yards in 14 plays, tying the game at 44 on Cam Pedersen's 28-yard field goal. Eastern's Jordan Dascalo's 49-yard attempt with six seconds left was wide left.

Tamarick Pierce's 1-yard scoring run with 4:32 to play gave Eastern its only lead, 44-41.

Dunn rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns as the five-time defending FCS (2-0) Bison piled up 537 yards, 280 on the ground.

Gubrud was 26 of 40 for 450 yards and four scores but he was picked off three times, including a 40-yard pick-6 by Nick DeLuca that put NDSU up 41-31 at 9:29 of the fourth quarter.

Cooper Kupp had both touchdowns for Eastern Washington (1-1) in the first half, giving the three-time All-American 61 career touchdowns, the most in FCS and FBS history, but he missed most of the second half with an injured shoulder. He had five catches for 62 yards, pushing him to 5,032 yards in his career.
