De'Runnya Wilson on Cyrus Jones: 'Best CB I've faced in the SEC'

You might think a 6-foot-5 receiver would love to be matched up on a 5-foot-10 cornerback, but that isn't necessarily always the case.

Mississippi State's star receiver De'Runnya "Bear" Wilson came away from last season's matchup impressed by Alabama defender Cyrus Jones.

"I thought he was the best corner I ever played against in the SEC," Wilson said Tuesday. "Cyrus Jones is a little corner but he's strong, fast, quick. I mean, I give credit to him because I had to work even harder preparing to go against him. It's going to be a great match."

Despite his physical limitations, Jones makes every taller receiver work a little bit harder to gain yardage on him. Wilson spoke about the technique it would require to once again have success against Jones - the Mississippi State receiver had eight catches for 91 yards in 2014 against Alabama.

"Running a slant route," Wilson said. "I don't think I need that much separation outside of my route from him, but a little separation will help catching the ball. I'm tall and have long arms, I can extend. So boxing them out can help. Playing fast and just being a threat out there on the field for the offense."

If the Bulldogs have any chance to win this round, Wilson will need to find the end zone at least once this year after being held without a touchdown in 2014.
