Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney was fired up, as always, in his press conference this afternoon. It is homecoming week and the N.C. State Wolfpack is coming to town. The game is set to start at noon, which was an issue for some fans. Dabo addressed this early kickoff time as only he could, saying “lets get up and eat a biscuit and be ready to roll at high noon…cause our team is gonna be ready.”

Dabo was adamant about the fans bringing the same home field energy that they always do.

The Tigers have their hands full as N.C. State enters the game ranked 8th in the country in total defense. The Wolfpack most recently upset Notre Dame 10-3 in a torrential down-pour.

The Wayne train

It will be interesting to see how offensive coordinators Jeff Scott and Tony Elliot attack this Wolfpack defense. Wayne Gallman has not cracked 20 carries in any of the past 5 games, however, he has rushed for at least 100 yards in the past two games. It is vital that Gallman continue to get his touches as the season progresses, the Tigers offense is nearly impossible to stop when he gets going.

Deshuan Watson has been on a roll lately, expect this trend to continue against the Wolfpack. Clemson’s offense exploded in the ladder half of the 2015 season, which is what seems to be happening this year as well.

Defensively

Defensively, Clemson is not going to overlook, N.C. State Swiss army knife, Matthew Dayes. Swinney made that known in his press conference stating, “he’s a very good running back, he’s tough, he’s a guy that really could play anywhere no doubt about it.”

Brent Venables is known for his ability to game plan. Look for the wily veteran to limit Dayes impact on the game. Venables will have help in the form of his massive defensive line. Ben Bouleware and the Tigers defense need to set the tone early and remove any confidence that N.C. State brings into the game.
