The Alabama Crimson Tide is set to open the 2016 season against the USC Trojans and we have all the details you will need for the game.

I didn’t think we would ever make it. It seems like decades ago that Crimson Tide fans were celebrating a win over Clemson as well as the College Football Playoff National Championship. Later this evening, the defending champions will get things started for their 2016 campaign.

Alabama holds the series edge over the Trojans with a 5-2 record. The last meeting between these two blood programs came in 1985 with the Crimson Tide seeing a 24-3 win in the Aloha Bowl.

Earlier in the week, Coach Nick Saban said that both Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett would see action behind the center. This marks the fifth time under Coach Saban that the Tide will start a new quarterback. Most fans will tell you that’s reason to panic but three national titles in those seasons with a 52-3 record say just the opposite. Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris will see the action at the running back position, replacing Heisman winner Derrick Henry. The wide receivers for the Crimson Tide could be the best in the nation.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Tide returns five starters with three of those coming in the secondary. Those five recorded 245 total tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 16 sacks during the 2015 season. This season also will see the Tide’s leading tackler (73) for last year, linebacker Reuben Foster, return as well as the team’s sack leader (12) and the most with tackles for loss (14.5) in defensive lineman Jonathan Allen.

Hopefully, when the clock runs out later tonight, Coach Nick Saban’s record in domed stadium openers will improve to 6-0.
