Cornell holds on for 42-41 win over Penn

Jeff Matthews threw for four touchdowns and ran in a fifth as Cornell held off a late Penn rally to win 42-41 in its season finale Saturday.
Matthews completed 33 of his 47 passes for 467 yards, sending TD passes to three difference receivers. Luke Hagy hauled in two, a 19-yarder to give the Big Red the lead in the third quarter and an 8-yard yarder in the fourth. The other two TD grabs were by Grant Gellatly and Lucas Shapiro. Cornell (3-7, 2-5 Ivy) also scored on a blocked punt.
The Quakers (4-6, 3-4) trailed by 21 with 7:49 to play and rallied with three unanswered touchdowns, including a 39-yard interception return by Sam Chwarzynski. But the extra point kick was blocked by Tre' Minor, securing the Cornell win.
It was the second straight week that Penn saw a potential comeback rally stall.
