Connecticut cornerback to have hand surgery

Connecticut starting cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson is undergoing surgery on an injured hand.

Connecticut coach Randy Edsall mentioned the surgery Monday during a conference call with reporters. Edsall said the Huskies injury list is as long this week as it has been in the years he's been the coach. The team doesn't make that list public until Thursday.

Wreh-Wilson, a sophomore, injured his right hand during the first half of the Huskies 27-24 loss to Rutgers on Friday night. He returned to the game with the hand wrapped.

Connecticut (3-3) will have a week to recover from its injuries before taking traveling to play Louisville on Oct. 23.

Edsall would not say whether he expects Wreh-Wilson to be available to play in that game.
