College Football Gambling: Our Top 3 Bets Of Week 8

College football week eight is upon us. We take a look at the top three bets to make as we’re over halfway through the football season.

The seventh week of the college football season saw No. 1 Alabama throttle No. 9 Tennessee, and No. 2 Ohio State survive No. 8 Wisconsin in overtime.

We switched a couple of things up and finally had a clean sweep at 3-0 last week!

Recap

-We took UNC at +7.5 against Miami which was a gimmie bet. Miami was coming off the heartbreaking loss against FSU. UNC was coming off the butt whipping in the hurricane against Virginia Tech. I knew UNC wasn’t THAT bad, and Miami playing true freshmen at linebacker would be a problem. UNC won outright 20-13. I personally played the moneyline for a small amount too, but didn’t list it as a play here. Win

-We took Pittsburgh -3 against Virginia. We felt Pittsburgh has the better defense and their offense was averaging more points per game than Virginia. It didn’t look that way early on as they traded explosive plays for touchdowns for a half. However, Pittsburgh’s defense put the clamps on and held Virginia to just three points in the second half to win 45-31. Win

-We took NC State +18 against Clemson. We felt NC State was a bit underrated offensively and defensively. Plus, the game was at noon on the road which isn’t as intimidating as a night game. The game was filled with turnovers and NC State had a chance to win the game with a FG in regulation, missed it and lost in overtime which is typical NC State fashion. But we won the bet. Win

Syracuse vs. Boston College -4

Time: 12:30 p.m.

How to watch: ACC Network

Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA

Boston College is looking to get their first ACC win in nearly two years, and this is the game it’s going to happen. They’re at home against a Syracuse team that just beat the formerly ranked No. 17 Virginia Tech Hokies for their first ACC win over new coach Dino Babers.

The line opened around -7 for Boston College and everybody jumping on Syracuse off the big win. Boston College is by far the better defensive team, granted Cuse’s offense is equally better than Boston College. I’ll take the defense at home.

NC State vs. Louisville -19.5

Time: 12:00 p.m.

How to watch: ABC

Where: Papa John’s Stadium, Louisville, KY

Oh NC State. In true NC State fashion…they should have beaten Clemson last week and will lay an egg against Louisville this week. We took NC State to cover against Clemson, and they did, but the emotional letdown from that loss will carry over.

Plus, Louisville gets an extra day of rest and will be playing its second straight game at home. It will be NC State’s second week on the road in the row. I usually won’t take such a big line, but I’ve watched enough NC State over the years…it’s their DNA to lay down the next game after a loss like that.

S. Florida -6.5 vs. Temple

Time: 7:00 p.m.

How to watch: ESPN

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA

So this game is sort of the opposite thinking of the Boston College/Syracuse game. Temple is the better team defensively, but South Florida is the much better offensive team on the road.

However, S. Florida’s defense has faced some legit offenses (FSU, Syracuse, and ECU).

As long as S. Florida doesn’t turn the ball over repeatedly(something they have done here and there). I like it.
