Chop Chat's College Football 2016 Game Picks: Week 4

Here’s a look at this week’s top college football games and who the Chop Chat’s staff thinks will win each of the showdowns.
It doesn’t get much uglier than what took place Saturday. From start to finish, you could see what was taking place – but there was nothing you could do to stop it. It was enough to make some grown men cry, others drink and even more to wonder what the heck they had just witnessed.
No, I’m not talking about what took place in Louisville…I’m talking about our picks competition over here at Chop Chat. Thanks to such wonderful performances by Florida State, Oregon and Oklahoma (extreme sarcasm on all three), my friend on the editorial side, Kelvin, was able to extend his lead after a quarter of the regular season. How is it possible I’m losing something that was my idea?
Here’s a look how everyone did last week and the updated season standings.
Season Standings
Kelvin – 23-7 (.767) Last Week: 8-2
Kyle – 21-9 (.700) Last Week: 6-4
Brad – 20-10 (.667) Last Week: 6-4
Jason – 20-10 (.667) Last Week: 6-4

UCF at FIU – The Golden Panthers are actually trying to bribe their students to come to home games with free food and drink, plus prizes that include a tablet notebook depending on how many games they come to. So far, more people are on the Chop Chat staff than have come to the games, so the Knights won’t have to worry about crowd noise.

Clemson at Georgia Tech (Thursday) – On paper, the Tigers are a better team and should easily win this one. That being said…the Yellow Jackets are undefeated…it is a Thursday night…and stranger things have happened when a top 10 ranked goes to Atlanta to play under the lights (yeah…bad memories).
Preseason Pick: Clemson All Pick: Clemson
Stanford at UCLA – Last week, it was the Cardinal making quick work of a team from the City of Angels that had hopes of being a playoff contender earlier in the season. Now, Stanford goes on the road to handle business against the same type of team – this time, Christian McCaffrey fattens up his resume for the Heisman with a big night.

Georgia at Ole Miss – Before the season started, there were a decent amount of people who thought this might be an early season preview of the SEC Championship Game later on this year. Now, it’s a question of whether Ole Miss will officially fold on the season or if this is the start of the Bulldogs’ eventual decline they do every year. I’ll go with option No. 2.
Preseason Pick: Ole Miss All Pick: Ole Miss
LSU at Auburn – Speaking of teams from the SEC trying to figure things out, we have an elimination game in the West Division with the loser agreeing to give up the Tigers nickname for a whole season and be called the Kittens. Okay, I was joking about the second part, but the Bayou cats should have just enough to avoid a loss.

Florida State at USF – Now, we get to see what the 2016 Seminoles are made of. Is this a team that is going to bounce back and play like world-beaters that still have a shot at the ACC and a playoff spot? Or is this going to be a team where the wheels fall off and we’re looking at an 8-4 finish at best? I feel sorry for the Bulls…Jimbo is going to be out to prove a point.
Preseason Pick: Florida State All Pick: Florida State
Arkansas at Texas A&M – A former Southwest Conference game that has been transplanted to the SEC takes place between two Top 20 ranked teams that are both fully capable of winning the West Division – if Alabama some how goes missing in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Still, second place would be nice for either team.
Preseason Pick: Texas A&M All Pick: Texas A&M
Oklahoma State at Baylor – Let us all say what needs to be said – the Cowboys should be undefeated at this point and the Bears should not have a football team after the lack of institutional control over the last few years. On the field, I guess we’re stuck having to pick a winner, so Baylor it is.
Preseason Pick: Baylor All Pick: Baylor
Wisconsin at Michigan State – Both teams showed last week they are living on borrowed time after the Badgers snuck past Georgia State and Michigan State fought off a furious comeback against Notre Dame. Neither team has a shot of beating Michigan or Ohio State this season, but it’s nice to let them think they have a chance for a while.

***GAME OF THE WEEK*** Florida at Tennessee – Once again, let us all just be honest with one another: if the Vols don’t win this year, there is a distinct chance they may never beat the Crocs ever again. That may seem extreme, but they have lost the last two seasons by a combined…TWO POINTS! What else do they have to do to get a win once every dozen years in this series?
