Central Michigan defeats Western Michigan 27-22

Zurlon Tipton rushed for 114 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Central Michigan to a 27-22 win over Western Michigan Saturday.

Tipton, who had been out for most of the year after breaking his ankle in the season opener, scored from the 10 and the 1 to give the Chippewas (4-6, 3-3 Mid-American) a 14-0 lead.

Western Michigan (1-10, 1-6) took the lead 16-14 with 7:37 remaining in the third on three Andrew Haldeman field goals and a 29-yard scoring run by Dareyon Chance.

Central Michigan regained the lead for good on a Mike Kinville-to-Cooper Rush touchdown pass. Tony Annesse returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown to push the lead to 27-16.

The Broncos scored on a Brian Fields' 1-yard run after Cory Sueing forced a fumble, recovered by Austin Lewis. Western Michigan mounted another late drive but it stalled on Central Michigan's 26.
