Backed by three passing scores from Wynrick Smothers, Central Arkansas maintained sole possession of first place in the Southland Conference with a 34-14 win over Southeastern Louisiana Saturday night.

The Bears (7-2, 5-1) scored the game's first 21 points, including Smothers' first two TD passes. The first was a 7-yarder to Chase Dixon, and the second was a 60-yarder to Jesse Grandy.

Nathan Stanley charged the Lions (3-5, 3-1) back into contention, though, with consecutive touchdowns to Tony McCrea and Xavier Roberson in the third quarter to get within a touchdown.

Eddie Camara stretched the Bears' lead with a 26-yard field goal early in the fourth, and then Smothers hit Grandy for a 48-yard touchdown to extend the advantage to 31-14.
