Carson-Newman's Ken Sparks ties Larry Kehres in career wins

GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) Carson-Newman coach Ken Sparks tied former Mount Union coach Larry Kehres for sixth place on the NCAA career victories list Saturday with No. 332 in the Eagles' 69-28 triumph over Limestone.
Sparks is 332-91-2 in 36 seasons, all at Carson-Newman. Kehres stepped down in May 2013 with a 332-24-3 record in 27 seasons.
John Gagliardi (489-138-11) top the list, followed by, Joe Paterno (409-136-3), Eddie Robinson (408-165-15), Bobby Bowden (377-129-4) and Pop Warner (336-114-32). The 71-year-old Sparks has the most victories among active coaches.
Paterno had ranked behind Sparks last year but moved back into second place in January after the NCAA restored 111 of the late Penn State coach's victories. Those 111 victories had been removed from Paterno's record in the wake of the child-molestation scandal involving former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
