California community college player arrested after punching referee


A Southern California community college offensive lineman was arrested on suspicion of striking an official Saturday night.
The player, offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer of Mt. San Antonio College (Walnut, Calif.), engaged in a skirmish with a line judge in the third quarter, according to the Ventura County Star:
Mt. San Antonio is the largest community college in California. They entered the game as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, per JCFootball.com. Ventura College, their opponent, won 35-29.
