Kansas coach David Beaty began filling out his first staff on Tuesday, which includes hiring Rob Likens away from California to serve as his offensive coordinator.

A source told FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman Monday afternoon that Likens would be going to Kansas to take over the position.

Likens had been the Golden Bears' assistant head coach the past two seasons.

Beaty already had announced that Clint Bowen, who had served as the Jayhawks' interim coach this past season, would be retained as defensive coordinator. Reggie Mitchell will continue to coach running backs and Louie Matsakis will serve as director of personnel.
