PROVO, Utah (AP) BYU tight end Colby Jorgensen is recovering from surgery Wednesday, a day after he fractured and dislocated his neck in practice.
The sophomore will miss the rest of the season. He was playing outside linebacker on defense at the time and went down on a tackle.
Coach Bronco Mendenhall says Jorgensen was in surgery for about five hours Tuesday evening.
Jorgensen is a 6-foot-7, 228-pound sophomore from Provo, Utah. He redshirted in 2011 before serving a mission in Canada. Jorgenson returned as a member of the scout team in 2014.

Mendenhall says, ''It's really hard on me and hard on the staff and hard on the team and families. I don't think anyone understood, when it happened, the severity of it.''
