BYU football nixes names on jerseys

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall — what a name, right? — decided he doesn't want players' names to appear on the back of Cougar jerseys. But, the jersey's just can't be blank, either. So, what to put?
How about "Spirit?" Does "Tradition" sound better? Or, what about "Honor?" Well, it'll be one of those three. This is all according to Jay Drew, who covers BYU for the Salt Lake Tribune.
The directive comes directly from Mendenhall himself, whose dead body you'll have to step over to put a name on the back of a BYU uniform.
Mendenhall's choice for the jersey slogans probably has something to do with values, or traditions, or Mormonism — and will likely remain the policy until the next coach comes in and wants to "change the culture," or whatever.
