Dillon Buechel threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns in his college debut to lead Duquesne in a 35-24 victory over Albany on Saturday.

Buechel completed passes to eight different receivers. Gianni Carter had six receptions, Dave Thomas four and Sean Brady caught four, including a stunning one-handed grab early in the third quarter.

Duquesne took a 2-0 lead with a safety on the game's first play from scrimmage and never trailed.

Albany quarterback Will Fiacchi passed for 324 yards and two touchdowns. The Great Danes, trailing by eight, looked to tie the game late in the fourth quarter but Dukes linebacker Rich Piekarski intercepted Fiacchi's pass across the middle with 2:11 left to clinch the Duquesne victory.

Duquesne avenged last season's 38-31 Northeast Conference loss to Albany. Albany is now in its first year in the Colonial Athletic Association after its departure from the NEC.
