Bedlam loss haunted Sooners

It's hard to disagree with Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops when he said the Sooners never got over the Bedlam loss to Oklahoma State a season ago.

Remember that?

Well, OU had a late lead against Oklahoma State in Norman, Okla., but the Cowboys rallied, helped by Stoops who made an errant coaching decision, choosing to re-punt a ball late in the fourth quarter. The re-punt was returned for a touchdown by OSU's Tyreek Hill and the Cowboys went on to win in overtime.

Stoops told Skip Bayless of ESPN, "I fault myself," about the loss to OSU. "In hindsight, you don't kick it again."

From there, OU played in the Russell Athletic Bowl, barely showed up and was trounced by Clemson, 40-6. Clemson scored on the first play from scrimmage – a 65-yard pass from Cole Stoudt to Atarvis Scott.

"I don't think we ever got over that," Stoops said to Bayless. "We never really moved on. It's my job to get our players in that position. I didn't do a good enough job of getting them prepared."
