Auburn to assist tornado-torn Alabama

Though they are huge rivals on the field, Auburn University is among the colleges reaching out to help devastated Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama.

U of A student government Chief of Staff Nicole Bohannon says six schools have reached out to volunteer as of Saturday. They are: Auburn, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State and South Carolina.

Bohannon says the groups are mostly collecting supplies on their home campuses and arranging to ship or deliver them to Tuscaloosa. Auburn has also organized a fund drive.

Bohannon is a junior from Sheffield, Ala. She says she and others at Alabama were moved by the support and grateful.
