Arkansas State pulls away from Texas State, 38-21

Michael Gordon ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns while Arkansas State blanked Texas State in the second half, posting a 38-21 victory Saturday night.

Gordon had a pair of first-half touchdown runs, the first on a 40 yard burst to tie it a minute after Terrence Franks caught a 41-yard scoring pass from Tyler Jones.

Adam Kennedy tossed eight yards to J.D. McKissic to send the Red Wolves (6-4, 4-1 Sun Belt) into halftime tied, 21-21.

From there, it was all Arkansas State. Gordon scored on a 16-yard dash that put the Red Wolves in front for good midway through the third period.

Gordon carried 19 times to lead the offense while Kennedy was 14 of 18 passing for 96 yards and added another 78 yards on 18 carries.

Jones was 17 of 28 for 204 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bobcats (6-4, 2-3 Sun Belt).
