Miami wide receiver Malcolm Lewis was taken to an Atlanta hospital Saturday afternoon with what school officials said was a dislocated but not fractured left ankle.

The freshman from Miramar, Fla., was injured at the end of his 12-yard reception on a play that took the ball to Georgia Tech's 4-yard line late in the first quarter. He was tackled by Tech linebacker Brandon Watts.

The entire Hurricanes squad gathered near their sideline, and players took a knee as the game was stopped for several minutes while members of both schools' medical and training staffs tended to Lewis.

Two plays after he was transported from the field while lying flat in the back of a cart, teammate Mike James scored on a 1-yard run. The extra point gave Miami a 19-0 lead.
