Texas A&M sophomore linebacker Damontre Moore was arrested early Friday for marijuana possession, the Houston Chronicle reported Saturday.

Moore, a contender for the starting outside linebacker slot, was arrested at 7:06 a.m. local time Friday for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, the paper reported, citing the Brazos County justice website.

He posted $2,000 bond before being released at 8:28 a.m.

An ever-present force last season, Moore was second on the team with 5.5 sacks and is hoping to inherit Von Miller's outside linebacker slot following Miller's draft selection by the Denver Broncos.

Aggies spokesman Alan Cannon suggested Moore can expect to hear from coach Mike Sherman if charges are brought against him.

"Historically Coach Sherman has handled the discipline of his players, and there are consequences for poor choices," he said.
