Alabama places 9 players on coaches All-SEC teams

Alabama placed nine players on the coaches All-Southeastern Conference teams and LSU had eight.

The league released its All-SEC teams chosen by league head coaches on Tuesday. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

The third-ranked Crimson Tide, which will play Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, placed a league-high five players on the first team. Texas A&M had four first-teamers while Georgia and SEC Champion Auburn each placed three on the first team.

Every SEC school had at least one player on the all-conference teams.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was a first-teamer while fellow Heisman Trophy finalist AJ McCarron of Alabama is a second-teamer.

The league will release individual award winners on Wednesday and the SEC All-Freshman team on Thursday.
