TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama freshman defensive tackle Raekwon Davis is eligible to play against Western Kentucky.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban says the NCAA cleared Davis to play Wednesday. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman missed the opening game against USC.

He was a four-star prospect out of Meridian, Mississippi.

Saban's not certain Davis will be ready to go in the home opener Saturday against the Hilltoppers.

He says Davis has practiced the whole time while waiting for clearance and the top-ranked Tide will ''do everything we can to get him ready to play.''

Saban also said guard Alphonse Taylor has served a one-game suspension. Taylor was found not guilty in August after his arrest on charge of driving under the influence.
