Gov. Bob Riley has canceled his trip to Glendale, Ariz., to see Auburn play in the BCS championship against Oregon.

Press secretary Todd Stacy said the governor didn't want to leave Alabama while it is in a state of emergency. Riley declared the state of emergency Sunday due to the snow and ice storm.

Riley and state Emergency Management Director Brock Long flew to Huntsville at midday Monday to inspect conditions in north Alabama. They are headed to Birmingham on Monday afternoon to see conditions in Alabama's most populous city. Then Riley plans to return to Montgomery to watch the Auburn-Oregon game on TV.
